I will speak about a Brazilian man in exile he
did things very important for Chile, in relation with the literacy. His name is
Paulo Freire and was born in 1921 in Brazil. Since childhood he was interested
in the education of the poorest because he was pedagogue. So Freire created a
literacy system for all levels of education, but focused mainly for illiterate
adults. When he was exiled from his country, He arrived to Chile and started
working in towns, mainly workers in the educational system that he himself proposed.
An informal, educational system much more relevant focused on meaningful
learning. His ideas about human beings are mainly based on freedom, emancipation,
dialogue and community. And how are your ideas and stress from education. That
is to say, education as a tool human liberation. Freire wrote several books, of
which all speak of the topics postulated. Some books are: Pedagogía de la
libertad (written in Chile) Pedagogía del Oprimido, Pedagogía de la esperanza,
Cartas a quien pretende enseñar etc.
For me, this man is very relevant in early
childhood education, because he devised a different way of learning to read and
write. Attaching importance to the community, local spaces and most
importantly, taking into account the lessons learned from each person, that is
to say, prior knowledges. And from there, start building with other meaningful
learning.
I write of Freire, too! I love him haha
